Broadway Shows Canceled Amid New York City Power Outage

Nearly every Broadway show has canceled their Saturday night performance due to the power outage currently affecting New York City.

Over 42,000 Con Edison power customers are currently reporting outages in the Big Apple, including most of the Broadway theatres.

The power outage happened just an hour before most shows were scheduled to begin, so audiences arrived to find out that shows would not be happening.

The casts of several musicals, including Waitress, Hadestown, and Come From Away, went outside and performed songs on the sidewalk for the audience members who were turned away.

Be More Chill, a musical located on the east side of Times Square, is running as usual since the theatre has power. Other shows still performing include Beetlejuice, Beautiful, and Burn This. Nearly all of the other shows are located on the west side of Times Square.
