has sadly died at 75.

The actor, most famously known for playing the role of the father Willie Tanner on ALF, died on Wednesday (June 26), family sources confirmed to TMZ.

The actor died at his home in Hermosa Beach, Calif after bravely battling cancer for years. He was diagnosed with Lymphoma in 1995, and was in remission for a while.

Beyond ALF, Max was known for his roles in shows like Buffalo Bill, Cheers and Norm. He was also in movies like All That Jazz, Soul Man and The Shadow.

His wife, Linda Ybarrondo, died in 2017 due to breast cancer. They had two children together.
