Kenan Thompson‘s new series Saving Kenan just got picked up for a pilot order by NBC.
The 40-year-old longtime Saturday Night Live cast member is set to executive produce and star in the upcoming series.
The show will follow a “newly widowed dad determined to be everything for his kids while begrudgingly letting his persistent father-in-law become more involved in their lives.”
SNL creator Lorne Michaels is also on board to executive produce the show.
The show went into development this past fall, just as Kenan entered his record 16th season on SNL and won his first Emmy for the series.
